Is there a nolock option on select statements in sybase? I'm dealing with a large inquiry system that aquires thousands of locks to the point where it exhausts 85,000 locks. Nothing is being updated by the system and the locks are useless!

You can specify a nolock hint to run at isolation level 1
you can also run at isolation level 0
but your best option might be to issue a
lock table table_name in share mode
before you run the query
