hi,

one of my dell computer is starting to make noise. after i log in, i can hear the hard drive spinning (loud) and then it stoppped. when it stopped, the computer froze. so i rebooted the computer and got the following error.

stop: 0x0000007A (bunch of address)
kernel_data_inpage_error

does this mean my hard drive is dying?

then, i unplugged the computer, opened the case and checked all my cable, plugged it back in and everything is fine now.
i am running chkdsk right now and it is correcting a minor error in fine 12 - 15. what does this mean?

i also checked the eventvwr, got a lot of event 32 (disk).

any suggestion?

thanks.

I just got a second stop message.

stop: 0x00000077 (0xc0000185, 0xc0000185, 0x00000000, 0x00a48000) kernel_stack_inpage_error

is it the RAM? hd cable or what?

another update.

now i got 'no boot device available' striking f1 doesn't boot.

i switch the cable so i know it's not that.

is it time to put the hard drive to rest?

thanks.

From what you have written it would appear to look like a Hard Drive failure. The loud noise (often a grating sound) is common, and the lack of a boot device.. ;)
