Morning All: I'm getting customer complaints about a ringing?buzzing noise on both local & long distance calls. Any suggestions as where and what to look for in checking out the trunks? Thanks In Advance.

See if you have any problems with your trunks.

If you do call the LEC, and open a ticket on the static. If the problem is happening on internal calls, you might have a bad clock controller, or cables. Swap the clocks and see if the problem persists. If it stops, wait until the morning, When the cores switch (opt 81C) and the problem returns, you can check the clock controller cards.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I cheked the PRI's in LD60, and I don't think they're the problem as those are being used as Tie trks. I believe it's the copper CO trks that could the problem. Sorry I wasn't specific before. Do you check the CO's in LD36?? Thanks in advance.

Login to a maintenance set (see instruction in the front of the input/output guides)

go to LD 36 (53#36##)
then you can do a direct select of each trunk to test for noise (trk ll ss cc uu if my co tn is 20 0 1 0 I would enter 875#20#0#1#0##)

watch the terminal when you do this. When prompted for Dn you may dial a number - no need to dial 9 as you are connected directly to trunk.

I suspect you will find only one or two with noise - report these to your telco provider.
