I use Procomm Plus 4.8 to connect to Nortel PBX's.

When I connect, I seem to get a lot of garbage on my screen as shown below.

I connect as TTY - Zmodem, 2400, 8-N-1.

Could it be a physical line problem or my settings?

Thanks.

That looks suspiciously to me like incorrect terminal emulation settings due to the patterns. I'm not familiar enough with the equipment to know what terminal you should be using, but I'm fairy certain there is a Tek-Tip forum or two for that hardware.

It looks like line noise, if it was a parity issue you would not see the correct lines of info

Thanks. Would it be noise on my end or the far end?

It could be either end.

The way to find out is to dial up other modems and see if you still have a problem. If you do, its your end. If you don't, its the far end of the original modem you were dialing into.

Update - turns out it was the fibre cable to the expansion cabinet for an Option 11C that housed my TTY connection. The cable was replaced - did a sys reload and all is good now.
