One of our users started to get line noise on her analog phone. There's this buzzing sound whenever another phone rings that both the user and the caller can hear. Most of the other phones are digital and do not have this issue. Has anyone ever had this type of problem? Since the system is in another state, I can't trouble shoot the wiring and the modem isn't connecting. Is it possible I have a bad card?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

A few things are possible. Working backwards, there is a tiny chance the house cable somewhere between the station and the port is inducing this if any pairs are split (emi). There is a tiny chance the MDF (main distribution field) which connects the house and switch wiring is inducing it (easy to trace and clean up). There is a much greater change the problem is in the T/R circuit pack. If the problem was cross talk ahead of the switch others would hear it (unless it's a personal line).

If you have someone there that could plug into the port directly that would help isolate the problem.

Either way, if your not in the state I'd probably call avaya.

Thanks for the tips Rainman10. I had the local IT guys plug in a phone directly into the PBX and sure enough, they still got the buzzing sound. So I'm shipping them a replacement card and sending directions on replacement.

Thanks again.

Do you get the buzzing when you make an internal call, do all the phone lines buzz or just one?? Have you tried plugging a telephone directly into the telco line without going through the legend. The problem could be the legend of the telco.

Merci,
Austin
