Nohup under Windows

Hi,

Longer ago than I care to remember I used to programme in ‘C’ under UNIX. If I wanted the process to carry on running after logout I could start it with:-

$ nohup codgerprogram &

I now have the same requirement for a Visual C++ program running under either Windows 2000 or Windows XP. How do I achieve this? I have gone through a number of text books and searched the web but to no avail.

and I never heard of 'nohup' until I saw it used on UNIX. :)

I'm not sure if this is the best alternative, but running a program from the Start->Run box or using the START command on the command line will run it in a different window.

Here's a list of XP Commands:
If you want the process to continue running after you logout, I think you'll have to convert it to a service.
 

I set it up as a 'scheduled task' on startup. It works - sort of! Well thats the wonder of Windows so off to another forum as it has nothing to do with Visual C++.
