Trying to run this script with a nohup but I'm getting an error. Permission on the script are 755...

#nohup /opt/WebSphere/AppServer/bin/startupServer.sh &
[1] 24297
/u01/app/oracle/admin/scripts>nohup: cannot open/create nohup.out

Looks like you don't have permission to create/open a file in the directory from which you are running the command (/u01/app/oracle/admin/scripts). Either

(1) Run the script from a directory where you can create a file

or

(2) Redirect the output from the script to another file

Greg.

like this...
#nohup /opt/WebSphere/AppServer/bin/startupServer.sh & >/tmp/nohup.out

this works great but for some reason the nohup is not working via cron

grega,

The nohup is in the script that is running via cron. The overalll script consist of 4 other scripts (one of which needs to run via nohup)
