We have several Cisco 2621XMs running 12.2+ jk or ik IOS with the VPN module physically on board. However, when doing a 'sh ver' or 'sh hardware', on some of them the VPN module does not appear in the output. Other 2621s are okay. Does anyone know why? Couldn't find answer at Cisco. Thanks folks! -Denny

Only thing I would suggest is to upgrade all routers to the latest 12.3 mainstream image available then try again. Could be an IOS issue. If still not showing then would suggest a visual inspection to see if they have been removed. Might be that one ore more of the units were at one timed involved with an RMA to Cisco. Cisco will only ship the base unit less and Wic's, memory, or modules. Possible that when new unit arrived only the Wic's got swapped and the VPN module was shipped back to Cisco with defective router.

Or you can just remove the chassis and see whether the VPN AIM is confirmly plugged into the AIM slot or not.
