I have an ATI AGP Fire GL card that I bought for my computer. when it arrived I put it in but no video. my old card works with it but not the new one. I tried the new card on another computer I have and it works fine but not that one.

I bought a second card, an NVIDIA Geforce 6200 and that works on my computer where the other one didn't. I looked at the specs and they are about the same.

Can someone tell me why the Nvidia would work where the ATI wouldn't?

Are you sure the card is fully seated? What are the specs of the problem PC and the working PC (CPU, chipset etc.)?

It was fully seated.

the problem pc is a dell precision 360. The CPU is a P4/HT tech

It sounds like you're switching from an nVidia-based card to an ATI-based one. With your old graphics card in your PC you need to uninstall the nVidia drivers (via Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs). Then shut down the PC, swap cards and boot it up. You should get a very basic display which will enable you to install the ATI drivers that came with your card.

If that still doesn't work it may be that the card isn't electrically compatible with your motherboard. This Wikipedia page explains about the various versions of AGP, although broadly speaking if the card fits in the slot it should be compatible.
