No video output to monitor

hi all i've built a new pc for my parents spec as follows

motherboard asus a7s333
gpu nvidia geforce4 64mb
sound card onboard sound
processor amd semprom 2300+
ram 256 ddr

when i boot their is no post beeps however the cdrom looks for a disk and the hard drive makes booting noises but their is no out put to the monitor i have tried the gpu in my pc works fine also tried the processor and ram here works fine the monitor is brand new but i will try it on this machine havent had time yet anyone got any idea its baffling me especially the fact theirs no post beeps

Check all the drives cables (data & power) and make sure they are plugged in correctly and seated firmly.

Does your computer have an onboard video card by any chance, if so you have to put monitor into the onboard first and then change it in the bios.
Also check the pins on the monitor cable make sure you didnt unwittingly bend/snap any of them when you first plugged it in.

Also, check your manual to do a bios re-set, as they differ from mobo to mobo.
After that, you can go into your bios and there is usually a setting for high performance and standard or basic performance, set it to standard, basic, default, whatever it says, and exit and save.

it is possible that your MOBO is looking for a PCI video card first..

I have seen this, and as far as new boards, I thought they all did a rolling check now..

but check it out, check to see if a PCI video card shows anything, and then check in the BIOS to turn it back to AGP.
