No Upload Document prompt when saving file

Greetings-

WSS 2.0 and SQL Server 2000 running on Windows Server 2003. When users save a file in Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, they navigate out to the Web Folder location in SharePoint but they don't get presented with the Upload Document form, where they'd input pertinent data. It just saves.

I used SMIGRATE to move this site from one server to another. It worked on the old server. Also, the creator of this site seems to think that she was able to browse out to a UNC location not a URL (\\server\site\shared documents vs.

http://server/site/Shared

Documents)on the old server to save files. How can I get this functionality back?

I know that this is an old post, but has there been an answer to it, as I am having the same issue?
