I have a user who's trash folder has disappeared. I tried running a structural rebuild on the mailbox, and after this finished it had moved all of the users mail and sent items into the cabinet folder (over 10,000 items). We are using Grooupwise 6 sp2 client)

Does anyone have an idea how I can get the trash folder back? (I can get the user to sort through their mail)

Thanks in advance.

Simon.

Have you first looked in their cabinet folder(s) to see if they inadvertantly dragged the Trash Folder there? It's possible - I just tested and it can be done. I'd check that first (user error and all.....)

SimonMag -

I would follow 1oldfox's suggestion. Look around in each of the other folders. Hopefully it's in one of them.

On the other hand, if they did delete it, the trash is a system folder (unlike the sent items/find results) which means something else is going on w/the users database. Actually, the user isn't supposed to be able to delete the trash. You could try a rebuild/sys maintenance in attempts to recover.

Otherwise, you may have to delete the user's groupwise account and re-create it. I personally haven't seen this situation before. Perhaps someone else can provide another option - rather than the re-create.

Sorry I couldn't be much more help.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, in the end I decided to Archive all the mail (managed to get the user to get it down to 2000 items), then deleted and re-created the account and changed the fid on the archive.

I tried the structural rebuild and that is what messed the account up by placing all the mail items (and sent items, appointments, etc..) into the cabinet folder.

Thanks for the help though.

Simon.
