I seem to get this error every once in a blue moon when using Outlook 97, 98, or even 2000. MS KB suggests a wide list of things to try to fix this. This time, I moved the PST file on 22 machines from local C: drive to a server drive for backup purposes. 21 of the 22 machines now give me the NO TRANSPORT AVAILABLE when sending email out on the internet.

Anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? Have already tried re-creating NEW PST, and re-entering the internet email service info. This didnt help. The only way I know to fix it is to 1) uninstall Office 2000, 2) reinstall Internet Explorer, 3) Reinstall Office 2000, and 4) reconfigure mail services.

If I only had to do this on 1 machine I would... But since its 21 machines, I'd like to know if there is an easier way!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just a thought, Peter. When you moved the PSTs, how did you then "get them back"?

Did you remove them as a service from the C, and then add them again from the network drive? If not, you may need to do that. I'm not sure that just opening them will do the trick.

I moved the file, re-opened Outlook, and pointed to the new location when promted that the PST was missing. Afterwards, I removed the service and re-added it, and this didnt help.
 
Here are a couple of ideas:

1) In Internet Explorer, go to Tools->Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab and make sure next to Email: it says Microsoft Outlook and not Outlook Express.

2) When sending an email, type the email address out manually and do not use your Personal Address Book, Contacts, or Gloabla Address List. This will help determine whether the PAB or OAB has become corrupted.

3) Instead of re-installing Office 2000 and IE, try rebuilding the mail profile first. With Outlook closed, go to Control Panel->Mail and click the "Show Profiles" button. Highlight the profile name you are using, in most cases there is only one, and delete it. Add a new one and give it a different name than the one you deleted. Configure all the services and restart Outlook.
