Hi

I am connecting to my office in london from my house in France. I use a DSL connection that uses PPPoE and have a NAT Router (the netgear DB 824m) that hosts the connection and provides connectivity around the house.

Connecting the VPN tunnel works just fine. then the problems start:...

Most network services I can brose to (i.e. the file servers). However I cannot access any files on those servers.

some network resources are not accessible (remote procedure call failed)

Off-line file synchronisation does not work (times out)

Using outlook to access exchange server does not work (times out)

the router I brought out from the UK where it was sitting on a DSL connection in my house in london. that worked fine. the only difference in set-up between the two locales is that the UK uses PPPoA and France PPPoE.

I have tried reducing MTU all the way to 1300 and this has had no effect.

Any help on this would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks
Justin

Justin,

you tried
NS>set flow path-mtu

frequently when dealing with fileshares etc, this prevents the df bit in the ip header causing issues.

Thanks - i will ask our IT chap to do so. Since posting I changed my connection protocol from PPPoE to PPPoA and all now works perfectly. I guess this just reaffirms that the problem is flow/MTU etc.
