My Sco Unix V5. Server went down because of a power failure and we can´t boot from diskette or from cd because it seems to be out of space.
if anyone would give us any hints on how to get as stand alone user to be able to clear some space?
Thanks
Booting from diskette doesn't depend on HD space. Resolve that problem and you should be able to mount the HD and clear the drive. Although clearing the drive is probably not needed, just a fsck to resolve the open file issues.

Ok, sorry, the situation is this. After a power failure the server tries to start and gives this message:
boot not found
cannot open
stage/boot failure error loading hd(40)boot
that´s why we are trying to boot from cd or from diskette, but it gets to a point where it seems to be about to install the operating system. We do not want to loose our information and my Sco Administrator just resigned. So if you could please give us any advice....we are quite desperate.
Fix your floppy. Use MSDOS for diagnostic purposes.
Once you can boot a floppy from DOS you can try your emergency boot disks.
Once you have the floppies up an running you mount your hard drive and copy boot to it. Unmount the hard drive and shutdown for a reboot. Should come up.
You might want to look at the A.P.Lawrence website. There is lots of help there. And a lot faster looking there than going through the individual issues here, although you will get to the same point eventually.
