gigabyte MP, i7 intel chip, 12 gb ram. Had to do a system restore and lost all my sound. Updated the sound drivers via device manager. Uninstalled all the sound devices and installed the audio drivers. Still no sound. Can see 2 speakers in sound . taskbar speakers set at maximum. No sound at all. Can any one help.

Are your speakers themselves turned up?

You could try unplugging the speakers, uninstalling the drivers, turning the computer off, plugging in the speakers, and then turning the computer back on and letting Windows 7 find the speakers and install the drivers. W7 is pretty good at that.

Hope this helps.

You have verified in Device Manager that nothing is missing (exclamation points)?

Verify that you are plugged into the correct jack if using the rear jack on the computer
Try the front audio jack if you were using the rear jack or vice versa

Go to the manufacturers web site, and download the audio drivers and application for the model motherboard you have and the OS version you have. If you have done this, and you have a realtek device, check it's hd sound manager from control panel, sometimes, it likes to set output to 0 and it is a different output than the speaker icon on the taskbar, with is windows mixer application.
