No sound from My speakers

Hi!
There is no sound from my speakers but I know that they work cuz i tried them with my cd player. I think its someting with my computer, maybe even the sound card. but how can i tell. i checked all connections and theyre all ok. another weird thing is that my pc doesnt even show me the volume control, it doesnt even pop up. Help please

Go to control panel and double click the sounds and multimedia icon. Towards the bottom on the "sounds" tab, make sure the box next to "show volume control on the talk bar" is checked.

Next, bring up the volume controls, and make sure CD audio, wave, and midi are not muted. For that matter, make sure teh mute all isn't checked either.
