no SMS from WSM to 5603 via IPBS - IP DECT Global 4 1

looking for some guidance with the WSM (Wireless Services Messaging gateway) please:

running:

Mitel 3300, MCD v4.1

DECT base station is: IPBS[4.0.8], Bootcode[3.0.26]

WSM:
Software Version 2.54
OS Version 9.02

NTP working on WSM and DECT base station/IPBS

Mitel 5603 handset can make/receive calls via DECT base station (SIP to Mitel)

Trying to use the WSM to send SMS/text messages to the phone, nothing happens, eg the "Web Messaging Tool - send messages to individual phones" feature.

In the base station under:
'UNITE', then SMS: is the IP address of the WSM
(I've tried with encryption ticked/unticked)

under 'UNITE' then 'Unite IP Address' the IP of the WSM is entered

I'm happy that the units should be able to ping each other, no ports blocked.

on the WSM (logged in as admin)

I have: Send Message, Phonebook
and below:
a gap, then: Configuration, Setup Wizard

I think where the gap is, should be 'device management'...



Went through the WSM setup:
Select DECT system: IP-DECT
Enter DECT IP Address: is the IP address of the IPBS/DECT base station
Default messaging Destination: DECT System Interface (not WLAN)

passwords are all left at default (till we get it working)

The 5603 phone is registered ok to the DECT base station, eg can make/receive calls.

A license code has been entered into the WSM.

No configuration file has been uploaded to the 5603 or to the WSM....

No certificate has been created on the WSM.

light is solid green on the WSM

Any ideas?
