No shut down 4

When I go to shut down in windows 98 it just goes back to the desktop same with restart, restart in MSDOS mode and Log Off, At first i thought it was The system resources being too low but i tried it just after startup when my resources were at 92% but the same thing happend! any advice?

This problem is caused by a couple of things such as a buggy driver or if your shutdown screen is customized.

A temporary solution until you can get to the bottom of this thing is as mdengtek said, by creating a shortcut on the desktop. However, if the shortcut also does not work (results in reboot), change the text to read:
C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE SHELL32.DLL,SHExitWindowsEx 4

Just make sure that you have saved any works in progress prior to doing this.
