If I shut down and close the cover of my laptop, sometimes it fully shuts down and other times, the light keeps flashing, and when I then open the cover, it completes the shut-down process. Is this a problem with laptop or windows?
Thanks.

I vaguely remember reading something about the wiring becoming damaged by the constant closing of the lid and causing this type of problem.

In the Control Panel, under Power Options, is there any Setting referring to Power Button and Lid?

Resources to help troubleshoot shutdown problems in Windows XP

A Windows XP-based computer stops responding during standby or hibernation operations or when you try to use the Shut Down command

Control panel, Power properties, Advanced tab, 'When I close the lid of my portable computer' section - change 'Stand by' to 'Do nothing'.

Yes I agree with the last poster. I had to change mine to "Do Nothing" It would sometimes hang in the standby mode and would drive me nuts! Best of luck!
