Sounds like a problem with the hardware. I had a similar problem on a 3524 switch, finally ended up having it replaced.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. What more could it be?????? This is a remote router so I have no means of swapping out the router "right" now.

Before you go swapping hardware you at least have to reload the box and if you have out of band connections watch it boot up for any errors it may log . Also you try doing a "clear interface f1/0" then try a no shut" .

Look at what you posted in the first note when you are trying to "no shut" it but you are "not " in interface config mode , look at line 3 , this is not correct . Has to be in interface config mode before doing the no shut . Looks like you never hit enter after you input "interface f0/1" when in config mode , line 3 should read "2621-1(config-if)".

I've tried everything in your first responce. Yeah line
3 would normally look like 2621-1(config-if)#, but I tried it on another 2621 and got the same thing. Man, this is killing me. I'm so tempted to start swapping.....

so you have two routers that you can't get into interface config mode?

have you tried tab completing your commands to make sure your not making a typo of some sort?
seems very odd

conf t
int fa0/1
no shut

two routers that won't work is even more odd..
your not using some kind of tacacs where you don't have the authority to enter interface config mode do you?

Plshlpme, thx for responding. I haven't tried tap completing the commands but I've tried copy and pasting from notepad. No tacacs either checked that 2...

Cisco is sending me an nnm interface. I'll through that in tomorrow. I would like to get that router back and find out exactly what happened. If possible I'll try that, I have all your id's so if I find a solution I'll let you guys know.
