We have a windows 2000 domain at one office, and the other office is still a workgroup.

I have our users setup so they always logon their domain account. Thats fine when they are at the office and not connected to the network (it caches the logon).

But the other day I tried to install a printer at the other office on my computer and it wouldn't let me because it says there are "no servers to authenticate request". I know that means there are no domain controllers because there aren't any. Is there anyway to allow my computer to install a workgroup printer while not connected to the domain? I was able to do it logged in as Administrator but then when I logon my domain account it wouldn't let me print because I'd get that same error.

Any ideas?

If you are installing a local printer don't log into the domain for installation of the printer. The domain controller sets printer setup and install rights.

Either change the rights on the domain controller or don't inherit the rights by not logging into the domain.
