no route to host

I just installed sco on a server for the first time. I have setup my ip address in the /etc/hosts file, and setup DNS address in /etc/resolv.conf

I am missing something and I don't know what it is. what else do i need to configure? when I try to ping I get the error: no route to host

You need the route add for the gateway. see man route
