When trying to install Openserver 5 for the first time, a message 'WARNING no root disk controller' appears temporarily when the PC reboots itself. After entering the keyboard, time zones parameters, the installation aborts with:- NOTICE ram: No space on device on device 31/50
/ramFS/instdir/iqm/iqm terminated by signal.

I assume SCO doesn't recognise the hard drive. Can anyone give me some advice on correcting this problem. Thanks [sig][/sig]

Not that it is missing the hard drive, it is missing the controller. How about posting your hardware list and and also tell us what the hard drive controller is painting as it attaches.
Install creates a ramdrive with everything required to do the hard drive install then calls an install script from the ramdrive.

The PC configuration is:-
Pentium II-MMX 350MHz
Adaptec AIC-7890 SCSI Bios
132Meg RAM
Western Digital Caviar 36400 6Gig Hard Drive
IDE CD-ROM

When starting to install using defbootstr ahslink=ATAPI, the following appears:-
fd(64)unix root=ram(7) ram.preload=7 swap=none dump=none nbuf=100 ramdrive=fd(64) rootFS link='ATAPI' btld=fd(60)

Hope this helps. [sig][/sig]

When you start install, what controller does the system find, if any?
I think you are going to need another BTLD to see the controller , and then the drive.
But this is a controller that I'm not familiar with, so it is a guess only.I'll defer to other more experienced posters. Did you get a driver disk with the card?
You might also want to look at Adaptec and SCO web sites. Generally I've found good support there. [sig]
Ed Fair
efair@atlnet.com

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.
