I have a Partner II with 4 station cards and a Nitsuko NVM2 voicemail attached. System was rebooted and now there is no ring at station 10 (lines are programmed for immediate ring)and of course, you do get a visual. If you pick up the ringing line (by pressing the line key), you first get a dial string in your ear and then connect. Lines do ring properly and can be answered at the backup reception station 31.

Thanks in advance.

unplug the voicemail ports and see if you still get the dial string when calling in. It might be the voicemail trying to answer.

Also, press Feature 00 at reception and see if the lines light up solid green (ring) or are a fast flutter (no ring). To exit programming press feature 00 again.

You have programmed the extension into hunt group 7. That's why it doesn't ring and you hear the touch tone digits when you lift the handset on incoming.

Make sure that only voice mail PORTS are in the group.

Thanks for the help. I had a "certified" AVAYA tech visit the site and now neither intercom button at station 10 works (get fast busy). Also, occasionally when people check for vmail, it rings to reception.
Certified Avaya tech seems to think system processor is on its way out and only chance at repair is a full reinstall, with no guarantees.
One more kick at this thing later today.

Again, you have your reception phone programmed into the voice mail hunt group, no. 7. The Intercom sounds like Outside Dial Tone, you hear Touchtones when it does ring and you answer it, and when prople dial Intercom 777 to reach voice mail, every 5th or so call rings at reception.

Identify the extension numbers of the ports that connect to the voice mail system.

Go into System Programming at Ext. 10, with Feature 00, and the Left Intercom button Twice.

Dial #505-7-10
The 2nd line will probably say 1-Assigned.
Press 2 to change it to 2-Not Assigned.

Now dial #505-7-11
Check the 2nd line, and if necessary, change it to 2.

So this for EVERY extension number from 10 to 57.
When you see 1-Assigned, changed it to 2-Not Assigned, EXCEPT for the actual voice mail system extension ports, leave or change those to 1-Assigned.

Good luck!!

That worked. Extension 10 was in ring group 7. Now, there is still no intercom dial tone at station 10. When you press intercom, a busy tone is returned
