I know CR8 will not allow you to create a subreport within a subreport, but does anyone out there know of a way to "simulate" a subreport within a subreport?

I essentially want to know if I can create groups only within a group footer. For example

-----------
Group Header #1
-----------
Details
-----------
Group Footer #1 <----in here I want another group
but localized within the footer
-----------

Because I cannot create another subreport, I have to resort to something like this. All suggestions appreciated. Thanks

If you are recapping the same data you can use a Cross-tab in the Group Footer. No limit on the number of these. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

well...no...you cannot create a group within a group itself and as you point out you cannot have a Subreport within a subreport.

BUT perhaps there is a way. However, you have given us nothing to work with. We need to see what kind of information you want to present here and how it is formatted.

I can see the possibility of storing details in an array or single variables for later display in the Group footer.

like this

group header - displaying header info

details - displaying some detail info but also storing
other info (the detail display info would
probably have to be repeated in order to collect
the "Other info" but the repeat info can be
suppressed )

Group footer - now take the stored info and create the
display you want

This would be the approach I would take....but you have given no detail to work with Jim Broadbent

All groups are placed within another group, so you can add summaries of an inner group within the footer of the outer group, which is what you seem to be asking for.

As Ken pointed out, a cross tab is like a subreport, and Jim has given you sage advice, state what you have and what you need, someone here will likely figure out a means to accomplish it.
