No Points shown in Outlines only Paths.

Usually when i veiw art work as an Outline it shows not only the path but an 'x' for the points. now im on a different computer (PC)it is only showing the path. This is making it hard to join 2 paths together because it is saying there is multiple points but not showing them so i cant delete extra points. Im sure it must be in set up or veiw somewhere.
can anyone help?
