Running Microsoft Back Office SBS 4.5 with SP6 High Encrypt, have applied SP4 to Exchange 5.5. Internal mail and outgoing mail fine, no incoming mail. At logon to ISP the mail is deleted but not transferred. When situation replicated on different server am able to collect mail. Mail is collected from ISP Pop 3 account using SBS dedicated Pop 3 Connector. ISP believes MX record not relevant as not SMTP. As usual any help much appreciated

Could you explain what you mean by "When situation replicated on different server am able to collect mail"? Are you saying that you have another server that works?

Yes, the other server has a similar configuration - I just added the account in the 'Connector for Pop3' under Exchange connections to qualify there was no apparent problem with the ISP.

He doesn't have MX records for either server, they are apparently not relevant as picking up from a Pop 3 mail box using SBS dedicated mail collector which then represents to internal servers Exchange system.

However I may be totally wrong as I now think the mail may be arriving on the server but not being distributed. I know this by watching the DUN Monitor and seeing a download stream equivalent to the amount of mail. It appears when looking at the mailbox resources in the private Information Store there are anomolies with the login and logoff times.
All the 'last logon times' show a forward year of 2024, the logoff times are correct at 2002.

This probably means some sort of Exchange Data base rebuild !

My apologies, I skipped over your mention of this being dedicated. The ISP is likely OK. Now, as for that 2024 year, that's quite interesting, although I'm not sure at this point how that might affect mail delivery...do you see anything in your queues? Any event viewer messages?

Nothing relative to Exchange. However I have had servers that mysteriously changed dates post 2000 and until the dates were corrected Exchange wouldn't let users logon so there may be some similarity there. Exchange is still up and running and mail that had got through previously is seen and behaving normally deletion etc.

So users can still log onto their respective accounts, but are not getting new mail? Did you check the Administrator account? Maybe mail is going there? Check the MTA queues also...

I think I have it all wrong - I suspect the mail is arriving but not being forwarded due to a blockage caused by BAD mail, have had error 4117 on reboot, will have to do the DOS thing with various Exchange Tools. Will keep you posted in a day or two...........

We use SBS and Exchange 5.5. Our mail is also collected from a ISP POP3 account. I have read through this thread and it would seem that we are experiencing very smiliar problems whereby on occassions no incoming mail is delivered to users. At all times we have been able to send mail out. I am able to access our acount with the ISP and it appears that mail is being collected by our server and subsequently cleared from the ISP but nothing seems to be delivered to the users. This seems to happen randomly and is corrected when the system is either restarted or the mail services restarted. Unfortunately I only notice it when some one complains about non-delivery of an email. Any help would be appreciated.
