no outlook 2003 new mail notification

Window2003TS sp2 with outlook 2003 sp2. have alert for new mail notification checked in advance email options (i am administrator)--won't play notification sound. will play for outlook express. this is the second w2003 server with office 2003 that this has not worked on. any ideas?

I've seen this before. I was able to uncheck the options for notification, close Outlook, re-open, re-check the options and it works. I remember that this doesn't work all the time, but worth a try.
