Hello everyone.

I have a curious question. We have a standalone domain overseas, I am trying to make a group member of another group, yet when I click on "object types" I have no option to select groups! >(

I know I can do it so I just double check our domain here in the states and obviously it lets us select the "groups" if we click on "object types". See screenshot.

What am I missing (or what is missing) that doesnt allow me to select "groups"?!?!

Thanks for your help,

and 1 more thing, it makes no diff if select "Entire Directory" or the domain under "locations".

1) What is your domain functional level?
2) What is the group type that you are attempting to add members to?

I hate all Uppercase... I don't want my groups to seem angry at me all the time! =)

I created a Global Security group called LocalAdmin. I am using this for RestrictedGroups.

Now I want to add in the Members tab the Domain Users group onto this new Global Security group.

I was able to do this in our forest and 3 child domains. For some reason on this autonomous network the simple option of select "groups" from the "Object Types" window is not available.

The functional lever on the server is "Windows 200 Mixed". This is the only DC, DNS, DHCP, File server on this network. There are no other servers.

Thanks again.

@unclerico, I raised the domain/forest level to Windows 2003 and now I am able to select "groups" and do what I need to do. We only have 1 - 2003 server and we're definitely not going to install a 2k or NT based server....so raising is not a problem.

thank you, I would of never guessed that would of been the problem.

case closed!

Remember you can still add those servers as members but not role holders.
