I have a toshiba laptop HD and I ran a repair on it and the repair really never finishes and now I try to bootup and I get the" operating system not found". I have also tried to use a hard drive adapter to see if I can see my laptop HD on a desktop PC but it doesn't. Any ideas on this one??

I used the XP restore CD to try and at least get my data back and it says the it could not detect my HD. I have tried to do this with the DOS prompt as well......but no good. I really don't want to pay the $$$ to get it back.

What was the issue that caused you to attempt a repair?

Maybe the disk has died?

Andy.

I think the error said "C0000218". I found a fix for this at Microsoft support and it said to rename certain files and replace them with files in one of the system files.

I think my disk maybe dead.....
