No Net Command

Lately, I've seen several computers that won't map network drives because the net command is "missing". I've checked the path (winnt\system32\net.exe) and it's just not there.
Could it be due to a MS patch? Just too many computers to be a coincidence.
 
It's there by default even on the latest service pack and patch level in both Win2k and XP Pro.

Maybe it has been removed as part of the site's security policies?

No.
Not from a patch.

There have been several tricks discussed for Domain Admins to remove net.exe, and parse the file elsewhere for allowable commands.

For example, a NET SEND goes right to the bitbucket.
