Hi all

I installed a RH 7.2 Linux Server for testing porpouses

now if i reboot the machine the following error appears:

"kernel logger shutdown" and then "no more processes left in this runlevel"

Then the server hangs without rebooting and after a warm boot the fsck wants every time check the partitions (of course)

whats wrong, maybe a corrupt init.d?

thanks for your help

try run level 1 when booting and try going to 3,
then whatever /etc/inittab initdefault is set to.

well it seems that my linux is completely defective

init 1 dosen't also work (hangs while rebooting) normally init 3 is the default level in which the system came normal up, but won't be rebootet correctly

I also have seen this issue with RH linux, but only with
Enterprise installs, and non-rh kernels.
I'm sorry to say it but you must treat RH as if it were
not linux. That is: It is no longer 'your' OS. You must
not add or remove anything except in the standardized and approved ways. It sounds like you broke this rule.

i made a standard (Professional) installation and where shure, that i broke no rules

anyway, soon i will change the box (if my cluster solution will work fine) to gentoo linux which give me much more flexiblity and it's more fun to deal with

thanks anyway for your help
