I have a simple network of one Windows 2000 Domain Controller and one Windows 2000 server.

When I make the server join the domain I get the following error message:

No more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper

when I try to

1. Login as domain administrator from the server.
2. Map a network drive from the DC to the server.

But I can map a drive from the server to the DC.

I have tried removing the server from the domain - rebooting both machines and adding again. I have also removed the DNS service but can't get around the problem.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

ahhh damn these funky errors!!!

sane problem, only when adding xp workstations to win2k domain!! HELP!

If ya'll do a netstat -an on the server when you get this error message, do you see all the ports up to 5000 in some connected or listening state?

Lotas third party apps have been known to do this- NetIQ especially. What you might want to try is to increase the number of ephermal ports available to the OS. By default, only 5000 are available.

There is an article about this somewhere in the KB.website.
