On a Regular basis now we have been getting the following error...Storage device "QUANTUM 0" reported an error on a request to read data from media.

Error reported:
No more data is on the tape.

An unknown error occurred on device "QUANTUM 0".

Server is NT 4.0 SP6a, BEX 7.2\Quantum DLT8000. Usually, if not always, after getting this error the Devices tab shows "unrecognized media". I believe this error started showing up about the same time we upgraded our DLT4000 to the current DLT8000 about 6 months ago. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that your backup spanned two tapes and it's looking for the second tape.
