No management studio installed?

I recently bought 2005 developer edition after having used 2005 Express.
I installed 2005 Developer, and it seems to think that I already have the 2005 server tools installed...which means it refuses to install them.
The most frustrating consequence of this is that it appears Management Studio was not installed. It does not show up my Start Menu, and it is not in the folder it is supposed to be in on my system.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, and it does not help. In fact, it appears there are errors in the uninstalling because I keep seeing "2005 Server" in my "Add/Remove" programs list, even after uninstalling it, and when I try to uninstall it a second time it says it isn't there.
There are instructions for manually uninstalling 2005, and I began doing this and received errors [plus, it might not be needed since I don't really want to uninstall, I just want my computer to realize I need the 2005 tools loaded].
Any suggestions or comments?
One time when I was reinstalling, it said that the 2005 tools were there but not at the same Service Pack Level...I downloaded the recent service pack for 2005, but it did not appear to update the tools part of the ensemble.

you could try the following.

open regedit.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> software -> Microsoft -> Microsoft SQL Server -> 90

Delete the Tools folder.

Then try and re-install.
