No mail in Outlook offline folder

Outlook synchronizes upon exiting. Through Windows Explorer, offline folder shows info has been transferred. When opening Outlook offline, no messages appear in Outlook today, inbox, personal folders, anywhere. Services match up online and offline. I know I am overlooking something obvious - what is it?

I keep coming back to this post, so although probably stating the obvious, I assume that these folders have been setup to be available both online and offline (right click on folder, properties, synchronisation tab)
