No local network

Uninstalled Norton recently to change to competitir product, however can now not communicate with any other computer on network. A friend has said that he heard this has something to do with NAV & a dependancy in the system registry which needs to be removed as it stops the network services being run.
Can anyone throw any more light on this

What was the competitor product? Check to make sure the software didn't come with a firewall. If there's a software firewall installed, remove it or set it to accept lan.
