We have Web Client Server 4.2 that can do "moving window" real-time billboard displays without a problem, but if you create the same with "interval-to-date" it just says ELEMENT NOT AVAILABLE. The server has been rebooted but that had no effect and the reports and other "moving window" displays appear to be fine. Any ideas as to what's causing this?

Thanks,

Greg

First, check the Multi-Cast Stream Control and be sure that you are sending the reports you want sent.
If not, click the box next to the report you want sent, click Apply and then OK.
Next, restart the SDP_Service (Statistical Data Propagator), which will restart the IS_Service as well.

Remember, with any changes you make, you have to hit the apply button in the Multi-Cast Stream Control window. Nortel doesn't document it well, but changes are not posted to the Registry unless you hit the apply button in the Stream Control window. That sends the new data to the registry, but you have to reset the SDP (and IS) for the changes to take effect.
This is not horriably service interrupting, I have done it a number of times in the middle of the day when I needed to get something in right then.

Thanks very much, I think that is my problem. Only a few of the "interval-to-date" displays were selected.

Is there an impact to the performance of the server if I check all of them? Any changes to a production system at our company require approval from a change committee and I'd only like to have to go to them once for this.

Thanks again,

Greg

You should not see any impact on the server. The only possible impact might be on network traffic as you are going to send more information via Multicast than you do today. This should not be measurable and I would be suprised if anyone but you knew the difference.
