I have a WRT54G router that I am attempting to setup in my father's house (he's running off a cable modem). At the intial installation screen linksys checks the internet connection, it comes up that none are found. I know for a fact the computer is connected to the internet at the time because I can surf the web etc. What am I overlooking?

The cable modem likely has "router" features that are the same IP as the default for the Linkyss.

Change the Linksys router to use 192.168.2.1 as a native IP address,

How many ethernet ports does the cable modem have?

If it has an integrated router you can turn off the routing on your Linksys and utilize it as a switch.
