When you hit intercom at station 10, a busy tone is returned. We are looking for intercom access.

Are you saying that when you press one of the two intercom buttons on extension 10, that you hear a busy signal instead of dialtone? Very unusual... If so, I'd probably restart the phone system - but beware that system is old enough that you may lose programming if backup cap/battery is dead.
Mike

Yes, busy tone. Only on stn 10. System was rebooted recently and suspect a processor issue, so I don't want to kick it too many times. Hoping to solve through programming.

There is no programming that you could configure to make this happen. You COULD default the system and see if it makes a difference. However, you have a deeper issue. Plan on replacing the processor...

Thanks, I think I will try a reboot (sigh--cross fingers) and hope for the best. At the same time, I will submit a quote to the customer for a new system.

To see if the processor thinks that the extension is busy, at any other station, program a button with LEDs to direct dial extension 10.

If the red LED lights up when extension #10 is idle, the processor is thinking that the extension is being used.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

why would you replace the system

at the most you need a processor why replace it all ?

If it is a two cabinet Partner II, there may be some major rearrangement necessary to change it to an ACS type.

He does not specify, but he does say "Partner II"! So to cover that base, added my comment...

Hope that helps!

I have also replaced the battery in a processor when I know I have to reboot when I knew my customer was in no position to buy a new one...can't think of anything but bad hardware that would be causing this...

Just another thought would be to swap 2 of the 206 cards if the reboot doesn't do any good. It would be worth a shot before replacing the whole system or reprogramming the processor. You could also wait until 2nd quater 2010 and put your phones on an IP Office...according to AVAYA.

so your saying IPO will accept partner phones after 2nd quarter '10

Partner phones on IPO is a rumor. I sure wouldn't bank on it.
Mike

We had a webinar with AVAYA and one of the hosts said that "on the roadmap for the R6 software they will include the availability for Partner Phones." The R6 software is projected for 2nd quater of 2010. They said nothing about functionality, just that the IP Office will accept the phones.

Yup - I was at that same webinar. Although the second time the subject was broached, the phrase "being reviewed" was used.
Mike

Anything else interesting presented @ the webinar?

....JIM....

It was mostly about IPOffice R5 release and major rework of licensing. Nothing presented that isn't in the docs (except the potential for Partner phones in future).
