Hi we are using Outlook 97 and exchange 5.5 (NT4). One user doesn't receive external emails until he sends one out and then he gets a whole bunch of them as if they've been waiting somewhere???? What could be wrong?
I am going to make an assumption that the Outlook installation is for a Corporate Workgroup and not Internet Mail only. If you are not certain click on HELP - ABOUT to be sure. I also assume that the Microsoft Exchange server component is installed in SERVICES.
Is Outlook setup so that the mail being delivered to the Mailbox on the Exchange Server or is being delivered to a personal folder? Under TOOLS - OPTIONS - MAIL SERVICES is the Microsoft Exchange Server selected under check mail? Also is he having to click the SEND/RECEIVE button to SEND the message?
Just a few things to check out. joegz

Yes it is a corporate setup and is delivering to the mailbox on exchange server and not personal folders. The exchange server is available under services. Nothing is different and he has no idea that anything is wrong except that no one is sending him any emails and then he sends one externally and they all come flooding in.
Then as strange as this may sound it appears that he is starting off working offline and when he sends it is synchronizing the mail. Does he have offline folders enabled? If so try disabling them and see if the behavior changes. joegz
