Hello: I am totally new to the BCM so I need help please. We just had a standalone BCM-50 installed at a remote site and a major bug right now is that when the customers call in, there is no call display other than "LINE ###". We have 4 1FL's going into the BCM and I have already confirmed with MA BELL that display is set up on these 4 lines. Until we get support on the BCM, can someone tell me where to go look in the BCM to see if there is something we need to turn on or set up.

Thank you in advance

Provided the telco is sending caller ID to you, there isn't anything you would need to do on the configuration end. You should see the caller ID info after you answer the call if you don't have the line set to display CLID while it's ringing.

By chance are your lines set to be answered by auto attendant? CLID is delivered over analog trunks between rings 1 and 2. If the lines are being answered right away, then the CLID info is never sent. Change you auto attendant to answer at 2 rings, or wait until the second ring to answer the call and see if that makes a difference.

There is caller Id programming under the line programming and set programming.

Turn on your BCM Monitor and see if the CLID is showing.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

To biv343 - Right on the money. This has solved the caller id issue but has also created more questions for us.

To acewarlock - I did not see the CLID coming through until I changed the # of rings to be 2 so I thank both of you.

One more quick related question and then I am off to another post.
I now see the # calling in but I also see a question mark right after the #. Example - 6138890561 ? Could either of you explain to me what the ? represents.

Thanks again

I think the ? is that it didn't get a name also. I have never seen the ? as I have always seen a name.

I've never seen a ? mark show up on the display before. After you answer the call, press the More or Info softkey, don't remember which one shows up at the moment. That would prove or disprove any name issues. Since you only have one line for CLID info, you can see number or name, but not both at the same time. You can set the system to display name or number first.

If all looks OK, might be worth a call to the telco. Or find a cheap analog phone capable of displaying CLID, connect it to the trunk and see what you get on that display.

Sorry guys let me clarify a bit here. I have the question mark showing in the BCM monitor on all live calls. On my phone(IP2004)I have the phone number and an H7313. 73## I know is part of our voicemail on the BCM. What the other phones show right now I am not sure. If this is normal, then I will have to go to the users and ask them which they want. What would we need to do if they want both name and number display ?
