Hi,

After I install Enterprise 7.1 using a silent install (setup.exe /qb), I noticed that the icon on the system tray was missing. It was different when doing a normal install, the icon will appear after it is done. Am I doing something wrong or is there a different switch I should use?

Thanks for your help...

Not sure if this applies, but I had a similar issue as well when I performed a silent install. VirusScan services were still running for me and some policies appeared to be working. I rebooted the PC and the icon appeared in the System Tray after the reboot.

My silent install was built using McAfee's Installation Designer to do the install silently but with no reboot. Since a reboot appeared to correct the problem, I used the Installation Designer to force a reboot after the install regardless whether or not it was needed.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Victory. I was hoping that there would be some way not to do a reboot.

If you use the McAfee Installation Designer, you can run the SHSTAT.EXE program after the installation to "force" the icon to show up.
