Hi,

I expirience difficulties while installing Solaris 2.6 on a Compaq Proliant 1600. While using Compaq Smartstart all the SCSI HD are detected and the system partition can be created and updated. But while installing now the software Solaris itself, no HD is detected and the system message is: No HD ..., although they were detected by the system during the boot phase.

What is the problem please?

I just checked the "Sun Hardware Compatability List" for Solaris 2.6 and the Compaq Proliant 1600 is not on the list. Could have something to do with the problem you are experencing. Just a guess!
Good luck!

I have Solaris 8 Intel installed in a Proliant 1600, you need to load the driver for you SmartArray Card, (usualy in disk 2 of 4), you can download this Softpag at Compaq web site:

SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP16409
TITLE: Compaq Solaris Driver Update (DU) Diskette for Solaris 8

this is I use for Solaris 8 you will need to download for Solaris 2.6:

Then just add the driver in "Solaris Device Configuration Assistant" (F4_Add Driver), then during installation of CD 1 of 2 you will also need the same disk.

Hope it helps,

Regards,
