No graphics displayed in Outlook 97

I have a system with Outlook 97 which does not display any graphics. It only displays the html code/url/source/filename where the graphic should be regardless whether its a gif or jpg. Any ideas?

As far as my knowledge OL97 doesn't support HTML mail.It is limited to Plain Text format. OL98 supports HTML versions.
