Hi,

we have a problem with the free/busy information in phonemanager.

2 VLAN's: voice & data

voice: phones & IPOFFICE & Voicemail pro server
data: pc's with Phonemanager

Now we have an issue that not all the phonemanagers are telling the correct free/busy info of other users.

This has something to do with broadcasting on your local vlan?

Is there a possible solution to solve this problem?

Routing broadcast over the vlans -> no solution

Thanks!

Put the IPO in the data vlan.

The PM broadcasts made by the IPO are then on the same subnet as the pc's that house the PM apps, thus you will get BLF updates ok.

Implement QOS throughout to get the voice traffic from the voice VLAN to the data vlan without being hindered by data.

If the IPO is on the voice VLAN then the PC's housing PM are effectivley on a different subnet.

If the IPO sees PM on a different subnet rather than send a broadcast it will set up a unicast for that device, a unicast will go over the subnets because it isnt a broadcast.

The IPO can only have 10 unicast sessions going with any PM's, after that BLF will not work for PM on a different subnet to the IPO.

PG,

If the customer has gone through all the trouble building different VLans to separate the voicetraffic from data traffic could it be an option to use lan2 (SOE, IP412, IP500 and 406V2lanport8using4.1) in the data vlan?

So all IPPhones connect through the voicevlan to the IPAdress of Lan1 and the applications use the data-vlan to get to the IPAdress of Lan2 for signalling.

Are you asking or telling?

Not if he has a 406v2 running 4.0 or earlier.

Im just giving my 2p worth with the info given at the time.

Yes that would work if he had a 2 lan system.............

Phone Manager and SoftConsole BLF update notifications are broadcast onto the same subnet as that of the IP Office. In the case of IP Office control units that have two local subnets, such as the IP Office 412 and the IP Office Small Office Edition, the messages are broadcast to both subnets.

Thanks for the support guys,

I'm going to move the IPO to the data lan and put some testing on.

I hope this does not gives me more issues? :)

Thanks again!

K.
