I'm trying to run a system with only a HDD(C:) and a 100Mb USB Zip which I would like to label A:. However, even after disabling the floppy in the BIOS, Windows still places a symbol in My Computer for a phantom zip drive, labelling it A: and my real zip, labelling it D:. The phantom is redundant, but Windows never quite catches on.

Does anyone know how I can get HDD(C:) and Zip100USB(A:)?

Cheers
      Gareth

I have never tried to get a zip as drive "A" but I have seen Windows label a zip as floppy B when it's jumpered as slave and when here is no jumper on the drive it will label it correctly as a removable disk. If you ever do get this to work, I seriously doubt that the BIOS will recognize the zip as the first boot device in case of HDD failure since a zip is an IDE device.
