Hi
I installed photoshop 5.5 recently in a new system, and it does something it never did on my old system. Whenever there is a file open, and I remove the memory stick from the card reader, an alert with a red disk with an "X" in it appears that says "Potoshp.exe - No Disk.......There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive F" and 3 radio buttons below - Cancel, Try Again, and Continue. It won't allow me to use the program until I replace the disk - the radio buttons don't work until the disk is replaced. On my old system I can remove the memory stick and nothing untoward happens, no alerts and no problems, I could keep working. Help...

Is the memory stick being properly removed? You should not simply yank it out. There is often an eject function that must be performed to prevent data loss.

Is the memory stick being used as a scratch disk?

Is the memory stick holding a file that is currently opened in Photoshop?

My Photoshop has an explicit warning about removable drives. You should not read or write images directly from or to these drives. Instead, copy the file to a hard drive. I think you've already seen the reason for the warning.
