When running the command:

sh ipx route 1

I get the folling message:
Codes: C - Connected primary network, c - Connected secondary network S - Static, F - Floating static, L - Local (internal), W - IPXWAN R - RIP, E - EIGRP, N - NLSP, X - External, A - Aggregate s - seconds, u - uses, U - Per-user static

588 Total IPX routes. Up to 1 parallel paths and 16 hops allowed.

No default route known.

E 1 [10537472/1] via 1.00e0.1455.bc60, age 00:02:04,

Can somebody explain why i get No default route known and how can i fix it

TIA

What the router is telling you is that if there is not a match for the requested network ( route) then it goes to the bit bucket. A default router would the route of "last resort" if the router can not find a match in the routing tables.

A couple of ways to set this is up is to use the

R1(config)#ip classless

or

R1(config)#ip default-network

There are some subtle differnces between the commands so reading up on them is suggested.

do this instead...
assuming your talking about IPX
sh ipx route
without the "1"
this will show you how the router gets to each ipx network.
you shouldn't need a default route
